 Sometimes a diagnosis / treatment plan may require a slightly more proactive approach which may involve a surgical procedure. We provide a wide variety of such procedures at this practice

  1. Preparation and pre-treatment discussions are the keys to your confidence and procedure success.
  2. We have a variety of anaesthetics available which can be used in a combination with sedation during treatment to ensure you feel relaxed. Our techniques and equipment allow a minimally invasive approach much like keyhole surgery (considerably improving comfort and healing time).
  3. After care is also vitally important, helping you to remain comfortable throughout your efficient healing phase.

Please Note: This practice accepts referrals for oral surgical procedures, please call us for further information.

Our surgical procedures include;

Tooth removal - Standard and surgical tooth / root extractions. We offer many treatments to save problem teeth however if it is the most suitable treatment in your case, tooth / root extraction may be considered.

Wisdom tooth removal can be carried out even if the tooth / root is impacted (jammed under a neighbouring tooth).

BiogranGuided bone regeneration. This can be used in a variety of procedures to maximise speed of healing and also to ensure the quality of bone in the healing area.

Dental Implants.  These can be placed for tooth restoration, to support bridgework or to stabilise dentures.

Flabby ridge reduction. A flabby ridge often occurs under dentures when the upper front teeth have been lost early and (usually poorly made) dentures have lead to bone resorption under the gum (the bone shrinks away leaving thick soft tissue). Subsequently the denture loses some stability (it tends to move and rock around). By modifying this ridge the stability and retention of some full dentures can be vastly improved.

Operculectomy.  This is the removal of overgrown gum around wisdom and other posterior teeth to reduce recurrent infection (pericoronitis). It is usually carried out around lower wisdom teeth to stop recurrent pain / tenderness to avoid wisdom tooth extraction i some cases.

Periodontal (Gum) Surgery.  Together with a variety of other treatments surgery can be used to remove/ reduce periodontal pocketing. Improving tooth prognosis and reducing mobility / bone loss. In many cases this can help save a tooth that would otherwise be lost.

Low level laser therapy.  This is often used in conjunction with our surgical procedures to promote efficient healing. It is also useful for denture ulcers, sensitive teeth and cold sores.
